Unlike standard (SLI-type) starter batteries, deep-cycle cells are designed around routinely discharging and recharging a large share of their capacity; they are optimized for sustained, steady power delivery rather than short bursts of high current.
How it works
The gel electrolyte structure is built to recover after deep discharge; gas emission during use is minimal and no acid or water needs to be added. The plate construction is designed to resist active-material loss across repeated deep-discharge cycles better than a standard starter battery.
