Applications

Technology

Nova's AGM range serves backup-power applications — UPS, lighting, alarm/security and elevators — in a valve-regulated (VRLA) sealed construction, spanning 5 to 200 Ah. The "dry-charged" designation refers to the cell being stored without electrolyte until commissioning, an advantage for long-term stock and shipping. Capacity selection is driven by the total load (W) to be backed up and the required backup runtime; a recommendation cannot be made before both are known.

How it works

Electrolyte is absorbed into a fiberglass mat (Absorbed Glass Mat) rather than held as free liquid, which minimizes gas emission during use and removes the need to add acid or water. The VRLA (valve-regulated) design includes a valve that vents gas safely once internal pressure crosses a set threshold; under normal use the valve stays closed.

Construction

Valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) sealed type; capacity values are stated at the C10 discharge rate.

Limitations

  • Before commissioning, the storage area must be cool, dry and protected against terminal short-circuit.
  • The charger must be set to a voltage profile matching VRLA/AGM chemistry; an incorrect profile can cause premature ageing.
  • Adding water or acid is neither required nor recommended — the VRLA construction is sealed.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between dry-charged AGM and gel batteries?
The two technologies differ in construction and how they hold electrolyte; the right choice depends on application conditions, installation environment and maintenance preference. Share your application details with the technical team for a specific recommendation.
How does Sealed AGM batteries work, and what does the range cover?
Electrolyte is absorbed into a fiberglass mat (Absorbed Glass Mat) rather than held as free liquid, which minimizes gas emission during use and removes the need to add acid or water. The VRLA (valve-regulated) design includes a valve that vents gas safely once internal pressure crosses a set threshold; under normal use the valve stays closed.
Which duty classes is Sealed AGM batteries evaluated for?
UPS (uninterruptible power supplies) Elevators Alarm and security systems Lighting systems Electric toy vehicles
What is the difference between the Sealed AGM batteries family page and the models list?
The Sealed AGM batteries family page explains the chemistry/construction class and the range map. Every model code, series group and technical row lives on that family's /models catalogue; exact dimensions and capacity are confirmed there and on series/SKU pages.
What limits apply when specifying Sealed AGM batteries?
Before commissioning, the storage area must be cool, dry and protected against terminal short-circuit. The charger must be set to a voltage profile matching VRLA/AGM chemistry; an incorrect profile can cause premature ageing. Adding water or acid is neither required nor recommended — the VRLA construction is sealed.
